Dr. Platonov completed an Honours B.Sc. with Distinction, a double major in Microbiology and Physiology (with an English Minor) at St. Michael’s College in the University of Toronto (1991-1995) before Medical School at Queen’s University (class of 1999) finished with the Forrester Award for second-highest overall standing.

He then completed Internal Medicine Fellowship at University of Alberta (1999-2002), Cardiology Fellowship at University of Alberta (2002-2005) and then Electrophysiology Fellowship at University of Calgary (2005-2007) followed by a second Electrophysiology Fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (2007-2008) under the guidance of Dr. G Neal Kay. After one year at the University of Manitoba as Assistance Professor of Cardiology, Dr. Platonov came to Trillium in 2009, coincident with the opening of our new Electrophysiology Laboratory. Has had the privilege of performing the following firsts at Trillium: Electrophysiology Study, Radiofrequency Catheter Ablation, Complex Mapping Case, Biventricular ICD implant, Subcutaneous ICD implant and Pulmonary Vein Cryoablation.
